Get started and orientation

Starting university is exciting and life-changing. It can also be overwhelming - but it doesn't have to be. Follow our three-step guide for a successful start to your studies.

Use Checkpoints as your student road map

As soon as you accept your offer you can start preparing by completing your Get started checklist. From your first day with us to graduation, 'checkpoints' are your secret weapon for managing everything on your student to-do list.

Checkpoints break down all the big, little, important and (sometimes) annoying things you need to do as a student.

From accessing support services, to finding the correct textbook list to understanding your subject outline or getting started with exams, find Checkpoints in your Student Portal to see what to do, where to go, when you need to do it so you can breathe easy.

Join us for orientation on campus, online or both!

Orientation at Charles Sturt prioritises the student experience with a series of events designed to introduce you to life as a student.

We have orientation sessions for students studying on-campus or remotely. Online students are also invited to attend non-academic on-campus Orientation at their nearest Charles Sturt campus!

Charles Sturt Orientation is your chance to:

  • ask questions about your course.
  • immerse yourself in university life.
  • meet your support crew, and
  • connect with other students joining you on your study adventure.

Orientation offers events and sessions run by faculties and student support services. You'll also meet current students ready to act as mentors, resources, and guides to walk you through the first steps of your student journey.

Everything you need to know about Orientation, what's on and how to sign up to events online or on campus is in your student portal.
